This project is included as a short term priority within the latest CPR SIF Delivery Plan. The application is for the third phase of a four phase process.
Following a competitive tendering process in 2008, SWRDA along with its primary partners CPRR (Camborne, Pool & Redruth Regeneration Company) and CSEP (Cornwall Sustainable Energy Partnership) engaged EDF Energy (EDFE) to investigate the potential for developing an exemplar community-based sustainable energy heat and power supply pilot project in Pool.
Subsequently EDFE has now produced two reports:
Phase 1: Technical Solution, Financial Validation and Company Structure.
Phase 2: Procurement Process.
From these, and two other previous reports the partnership have agreed that progression to Phase 3 of the project is justified, phase 3 will include the following outcomes :
Located on the Tolvaddon Energy Park, Phase 4 (Capital build) will consist of an Energy Centre (EC) that will generate both electricity, which will be exported to the National Grid, and provide heat that will be distributed through a district network to local end users.
