Equality and Diversity and Environment

The project will address the Convergence Programme’s Equal Opportunity and Environmental themes through the Council’s current equal opportunity, diversity and environmental policies and reporting mechanisms.   This will include recycling sustainable waste management and car sharing. Any new, more stringent policies emerging from the new authority will be adopted.

Liaising with the Partnership Office throughout, all communications, including any press and media releases prepared for circulation, will actively identify and illustrate environmental sustainability opportunities (including the use of the environment as an economic driver and the Programme investing in the drivers of a low carbon economy).

Good practice will be identified across the Convergence Programme and shared with those involved in developing new proposals, as appropriate.

Care will be taken to ensure that communication makes appropriate use of environmentally smart products and processes.

Wherever possible, meetings will be arranged at times and at venues which can be accessed by public transport and green travel will be promoted.
