Higher Education Development: Penwith (Truro Penwith College)

The expansion, led by Truro and Penwith College comprises the development of new and refurbished buildings for Higher Education.  It is part of a wider scheme to redevelop Penwith College campus and create new facilities for tertiary education.  These broader plans will double 16+  enrolments at Penwith College by enhancing the breadth and quality of curriculum offer.  This will provide an excellent platform for the specific plans to develop HE provision in West Cornwall.

How much?

The ERDF Convergence Programme is investing £4 million, with the South West Regional Development Agency and Penwith College contributing approx. £2 million each.

Buildings constructed as part of this investment will meet the ‘excellent' standard of the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM).

Equality of opportunity is central to this project, whereby the development of new and refurbished buildings will provide a base for Higher Education in West Cornwall.  Increased 16-18 participation and the development of more flexible HE courses will facilitate access for previously excluded groups to a range of HE opportunities.
