Mid Cornwall Rail Infrastructure Development

Feasibility study and the production of a pre-feasibility report to identify potential Convergence investments in the mid- Cornwall rail network that will provide an enhanced north-south rail service between key towns in mid Cornwall.

The rationale behind the proposal has been:

• Provide a quicker more direct route between two towns with significant planned growth both for residents and visitors

• To provide better opportunities for access to jobs and training by the residents of Newquay and some Clay villages, particularly given known access deprivation.

• Provide opportunities for business enterprise stations in certain villages and create employment nodes close to Newquay and St Austell stations
