Cornish based company Nature Paint has been successful in securing £249,966 of ERDF funds through the GBI project of the Convergence Programme. Nature Paint is a company which provides environmentally friendly paint that has low carbon emmissions. This investment will allow the company to continue its success and create new jobs.

The company has match funded the GBI investment and the half a million pounds will be used will help Nature Paint to expand and continue its success. The company will be able to expand their current target market and also target new markets. The Hayle based company produces paint in a powder form, made in Cornwall from china clay, which customers then add water to at home. This makes the product much easier to package and distribute as well as being better for the environment. It also has less of an impact on our health because it does not contain volatile chemicals.  One major DIY company already stocks the paint and it is currently the only paint product that can be sent in bulk through the post.

Currently Nature Paint serves the consumer market, an area which it hopes to expand over the next 18 months. But the new market which will lead to the successful growth of the company is the public sector. With many organisations now having stringent green targets the low carbon chemical product could be used on a large scale in areas such as Local Authorities, the NHS and in new housing developments or refurbishment of Housing Association properties.

The investment through the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) Convergence programme will allow the company to employ an additional 19 staff by November 2013 and safeguard 1.5 jobs. During the first three months of the project the company has already employed a further three members of staff.
