Newquay Airport Treloy Waterfront Phase 1 (Cornwall Council)

Construction of new access route and utilities provision to enable the ‘unlocking’ of approximately 66,095 m2 of existing and proposed workspace.

The Newquay Airport Masterplan sets out intentions to develop military land surrounding the airport which will be used to support the commercial sustainability of the airport’s operations.

Before commercial development can take place, access issues need to be addressed at the Treloy Waterfront (TW) site. Security fencing put in place to enable the airport to achieve its Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) licence has effectively ‘landlocked’ the TW site with access to proposed new business developments and hangar facilities only possible across the runway or through security controlled crash gates.

The project therefore consists of capital work:

  • To build a new approx 0.9 kilometre long ‘Southern Access Route’ to enable vehicular access to Treloy Waterfront.

This project is considered the first phase of the TW developments and will enable further plans relating to the development of the TW site to proceed.
