Sector Networks Transition (Cornwall Enterprise)
The government's Business Support Simplification Programme (BSSP) was implemented to make accessing business support more straight forward for businesses. ERDF Convergence investment in sector networks helped them, as providers of business support, to make the transition to the new business support environment.
Who?
The Sector Networks Transition investment engaged with sector-based networks which were identified in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly's economic development strategy, Strategy & Action, as being the most likely to bring forward economic growth, namely:
- Advanced engineering
- Creative
- Information Communication Technology (ICT)
- Marine
- Food & Drink (technology-related)
- Medical / Health / Biotech
What?
The Project Manager worked with the network groups to identify how the services they offered fitted into the new BSSP structure, what the needs of their members/businesses in their sector were and how they could best move forward.
In addition, an independent survey was commissioned to ascertain business' views on the value of existing networks and future needs.
The project sought to ensure the integration of sector networks' information, diagnostics and brokerage activity with Business Link. It also delivered specific business development interventions and facilitated peer to peer networking between businesses.
How much?
The ERDF Convergence Programme has invested £300,000 in Sector Network Transition.
