Widening Participation in Higher Education (Cornwall College)
This project will deliver a range of awareness and aspiration raising activities to help increase access to higher education.
The project will:
- Raise awareness of HE opportunities
- Motivate individuals to participate in higher level skills
- Raise awareness of the benefits of HE amongst employers and the workforce.
- Increase access to HE for all
- Increase progression opportunities for individuals to access HE through partnership learning.

Cross cutting themes
A project specific Equal Opportunities Policy (EOP), based on the Cornwall College Group EOP, will be developed and implemented. The Project Management Group will be setting appropriate actions to address any issues identified. The project enrolment form will provide baseline information which will be entered onto the Project Management Information system. The system is regularly updated and will provide qualitative and quantitative information which will be collated into quarterly reports for Government Office for the South West and the Project Management Group.
The project will support the three Convergence ESF Framework Sustainable Development Priorities as follows:
Ensuring training activity is delivered in such a way that is consistent with the objectives of the UK Sustainable Procurement Action Plan.
Addressing the region’s skills needs in relation to developing the environmental technology and renewable energy sectors, complementing ERDF investment in this area.
Ensuring that the economy benefits from a workforce that has the skills to enable business to address their own environmental challenges increase their competitiveness.
Cornwall Colleges Project Support Team will compile a quarterly update for the Project Management Group, outlining progress and implementation relating to sustainable development.
