NetInsight expands business and takes on new graduate
14.08.09
An Internet consultancy business that has doubled its turnover each year since being set up is looking to expand even faster having taken on a graduate under the Unlocking Cornish Potential scheme.
NetInsight is an impartial e business consultancy offering jargon free technical guidance to clients looking to set up a successful website. It was set up in 2007 by Dan Hinchliffe and Mike Reed – who had both formerly been employed under the Unlocking Cornish Potential scheme. In May this year (2009) the company moved to new premises, in Truro.
The pair have now taken on a project manager - James Lavell, 22, who has just graduated from Cornwall College with a BA Honours in Business and Administration. Unlocking Cornish Potential is a Combined Universities in Cornwall scheme which receives ESF (European Social Fund) Convergence investment and places graduates with businesses and offers support – including an expert mentor – for up to one year.
Mike said: “We saw a gap in the market when a friend had a website built that failed to work for their business on any commercial level. We began this business as the credit crunch was just starting but we have doubled turnover year on year and are looking to triple it this year.
“We predict our business will grow rapidly now we have taken on James and are planning to take on a second graduate next summer.”
Dan added: “Project management is very labour intensive and by taking on James this will free our time to go out and win new contracts.”
Carleen Kelemen, Director of the Convergence Partnership Office for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, said: “Even in uncertain economic times there are always opportunities for the right sort of business in the right markets to grow. NetInsight is seizing this opportunity and using ESF Convergence support to accelerate its growth opportunities.”
James said: “I was really pleased that this job came up – it is something I thought I would have to leave Cornwall for. But this was exactly what I was looking for.”
Ben leonard, Unlocking Cornish Potential Business Development Manager, said: “This is a great example of where a UCP graduate can add real value to a business, bringing in fresh skills and enthusiasm and giving the directors confidence that they can take responsibility for a business critical piece of work. James is undertaking a key project for NetInsight that will help it to continue to grow and meet the expectations of its demanding client base."
NetInsight clients so far include Bouncy Happy People, Cornwall Enterprise and THF Ltd (a wing of Poltair Housing). The company is in discussions for two large national contracts and Dan and Mike have also recently launched NetInsight Lite – a streamlined version of their full package which is designed to be more affordable for smaller businesses in Cornwall.
